raising a child in a bilingual family

Our lovely daughter is 28 months old now and quite conversant in English. Her mother is Chinese and so we've tried to encompass both languages in her upbringing. My parents (mono linguists) were unsure about the suitability of doing this but I reassured them they had nothing to worry about. Our little one is not equally fluent but does know words in both languages, effortlessly. Mandarin is a musical language and this will help her mental development. More on this later.
